Flying with the return of Thurday's Word

Thursday's Word

Dreams Do Come True!!

I started this Blog years ago when I wanted to encourage a friend who was going through a very rough time in her life.  She wanted me to send her Scripture that was uplifting and encouraging. She knew I was a write and she said..."Send me an email" so I can read it whenever I need to. I did and she started to feel better, and asked if she could pass that same information on to her other friends who she felt needed the same type of encouragement.

One email address led to another and another and before long...Thursday's Word was created. Why Thursday?  I felt that Sunday was when you got your fill of the Word at Church. Most people attend Bible Study on Wednesday night. Friday is always a busy end of the work week day, so Thursday was the day before all of that started.  It carried you on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday you got your refill!

I dreamed many dreams of becoming a published author and the Lord has blessed me to write my very first book, Thursday's Word Devotional.  Yes, I am honored to tell you that it is currently being printed and will be available in stores, and online for purchase soon.  The asking price is $17.95 plus shipping will be a total cost of $21.70.   You may send your request to Thursdays Word, Box 405, Franklin, TN 37064. If you enjoyed reading my Thursday's Word encouragement email each Thursday, then you will enjoy this book. All the information was taken directly from our shared emails and my Thursday's Word blog.

Dreams are those heartfelt yearnings that God places in your heart. They are so big that you know He is the one who has to make it come true. God loves giving us the desires of our heart. He longs to make us happy and fulfilled.  What are your dreams? What would you truly like to do the rest of your life?  What are some of the yearnings that you have and you are afraid to step out in faith to do?

Do not be afraid to taking that first step.  God will lead you all the way to fulfillment.  I started out with an email, then a Blog, then articles in Christian magazines, then note cards, now my very first published work.  God can and God will help you fulfill those yearnings in your heart....your dreams.

God bless you always is my prayer

Matthew Smith
The Lord says, “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.”
- Isaiah 43:1 (NRSV)

One Monday the cashier at a local store was smiling at me broadly as she totaled my bill. As she handed me my receipt, she said, “Have a great day, Brenda!! I was puzzled by how she knew my name. Then I realized that I was still wearing my name tag from work.

Our name tags list the name of our Company and that day I had on a Tee Shirt with COURAGE written on the back.  By wearing name tags, co-workers and guests to the Office Suite learn people’s names and feel welcome. The quote on my shirt  reminds me to be Courageous as I go through my daily activities. It reminds the reader that God has called us each by name. I realized that by wearing my name tag, I was sharing of welcome with people in the store — and I didn’t even realize it!

My name tag makes me more aware that people may notice my behavior, and so I am mindful that I may be the best example of a Christian that someone might see that day. This practice reminds me that God has called each of us by name to be living examples of God’s love in Christ no matter where we are.

Thought for the Day:
How do I show others that God has called them by name?

Prayer: Dear Lord, you have called us by name to be your people. Help us to proclaim your gift of salvation in Christ to the world. Amen.

Prayer Focus: FOR COURAGE TO SHARE CHRIST WITH OTHERS

GOT A GOOD FOUNDATION?

Nolan Issac
I Cor 3:11 “For no other foundation can anyone lay that that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

It is important that we have a good foundation in Jesus Christ!  In times of storms with strong wind and flooding rains, that house is not moved because it has a good foundation. But the builder who builds on sand under the same stormy conditions will lose everything because the house has no foundation to anchor it and hold it in place.

YOU are the same as one of these two types of houses. When you dig deep into the word of God to learn and put the word into practice in your life, you are building the foundation that is building on the Rock of Christ.  YOU must hear and do the Word of God in order to build a strong foundation.

JESUS IS OUR CORNERSTONE. A builder watched as the foundation to his own house was being built. He had learned from many that when stones or bricks are laid in a house they always start a corner, and this cornerstone is the most important stone or brick that is laid. What you find is that when the cornerstone is laid, the position of every other brick in the house is set. If it is in the wrong place, then every brick will be wrong. That is why the cornerstone is critical to building a house.  Just as the Apostles and prophets laid the foundation of the teachings of the New Covenant in Christ. As you grow in Him you are built into His spiritual dwelling place as part of the spiritual temple of God.

Can you live in a house with only a foundation? It is not a house until more work is done and rooms are added for living space for it to become a complete building.  But if your foundation is not good, the building(you) will not be able to stand.

May God continue to bless you in Jesus Name.

BE BLESSED!!!!!

When troubles come our way, we can be stressed and upset, or we can trust God. Scripture says to set your minds and keep them set on what is above…the higher things (Colossians 3:2).  When giants are in the land, when doubts swarm your mind, turn your thoughts to God. Your best thoughts are God-thoughts. He is above all this mess!

Scripture declares of God, He is “the most High over all the earth” (Psalm 83:18). Later on the same psalmist asks, “Who among the sons of the mighty is like the LORD?” It’s a good question! Pain does not plague God. The economy doesn’t faze him. The weather doesn’t disturb him. Diseases don’t infect him and death cannot claim him.

The apostle Paul says God is “able to do exceedingly, abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). Ponder the holiness of God. Let his splendor stun you, inspire you, and chase your troubles away!

Whatever your need is today.....God Has It!!!!

May God continue to bless and keep you is my prayer

Thursday's Word

Deniz Altindas
In the Old Testament rocks were quite significant. In the wilderness during the sudden storms in the Middle East shepherds and sojourners would often nestle under a large rock for shelter. When the Israelites wandered in the wilderness they were without water at one point and Moses struck a large rock and water burst forth (Numbers 20:1-20). Sacrifices were often made on large rocks. And in Psalm 62 the Lord is described as our rock. The word "rock" in Psalm 62 could also be translated as "fortress/fort."

Sometimes when we are going through a really difficult season in life, we look to ourselves to our own shelter from the storm, to be our own rock. The problem is that no matter how strong you are, eventually you will face something bigger than you, eventually you will find yourself the "under man" instead of the "over man", eventually you will find that being your own rock or island does not work. That is why so many people struggle with anxiety. Sometimes instead of looking to ourselves to be a rock we may look to family members to be that rock for us, but that does not always work out either. They may help for awhile, but they too, have problems. In those seasons of anxiety, you need a rock, a fort, a shelter.

That is why the write of Psalm 62 emphasizes again and again: "(God) alone is my rock and my salvation.. He alone is my rock and my salvation...God is my rock and my strong refuge."

And this brings us to the good news of the gospel: Jesus is the Rock of our salvation. Jesus, the Son of God, was no stranger to anxiety. Throughout his earthly ministry he was hounded by critics, undermined by the religious leaders, scorned by people in his hometown. In the Garden of Gethsemane hours before his suffering and death Jesus' anxiety reached a fever pitch as he sweated drops of blood.  HE died for those of you whose forts have been leveled by the storms of life, and for those of you who have been knocked off your feet by the amps of life.

Jesus freely offers you this salvation; freely offers you Himself as a rock, a fort, a shelter from the storm, an offer that, like the suffering in your life, is "always and absolutely personal." The good news of the gospel is that Jesus is your rock and your salvation. "Come in" He says, "I'll give you shelter from the storm."  I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!"

Amen.

May God continue to bless you is my prayer

We are in a season of the unexpected where the events that are happening around us may seem abrupt and illogical. However I believe God is accelerating His end-time purposes to bring about a restoration of His glory on the earth before the return of His Son Jesus. We as Christians are experiencing things on a much deeper level than ever before. Our main priority is to learn to trust in the Word of God like we have never had to in the past. We are to be tuned in, be vigilant, be prepared, be ready, and be expectant. WE have to respond to the storms in our lives when we least expect them. We sometimes think Jesus is asleep…but remember…He is a Lord who never sleeps nor slumbers. He is ever vigilant, prepared, and ready to act in our lives in the blink of an eye.

We will from time to time get demands on our anointings and miracles will happen when we least expect them.  Hallelujah!!!!!  -And suddenly, a woman who had a flow of blood for twelve years came from behind and touched the hem of His garment.  God is trying to bring us from behind. We have gifts and anointings that we are not using to our potential. He knows what each of us is capable of doing, and He needs us to start using them. Let us stop shrinking back and hiding behind excuses, people, and work. God’s kingdom will be done on earth as it is in heaven. The Lord is doing a new thing on the earth and it takes a prophetic generation to ride the wave of the Spirit – let’s be part of the movement!

Welcome trials, they’re stepping stones to perfection (James 1:3)

Thursday's Word

Helloquence

Think for a moment about what you would ask of Jesus if He asked you, "What do you want Me to do for you?" You should have a list of what you want from Jesus right now, today. Is it souls to be saved or a major project to be completed debt free? Do you have a family member with a great need but almost no supply? Is it forgiveness? Prayers to be answered? What seems impossible to you right now?

Matthew 20:32-34 (NASB)"And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, "What do you want Me to do for you?" They said to Him, "Lord, we want our eyes to be opened." Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.

YOU HAVE NOT - BECAUSE YOU ASK NOT? Jesus is ready, willing, and able to answer your prayers. Are you trusting in Him today? Ask in faith and watch what happens!!  He is an Awesome God!

Be blessed.

HEART TROUBLE - Jesus is not talking about physical heart trouble but he is talking about a spiritual illness. He is talking about a troubled heart, a burdened heart, and a sorrowful heart. This kind of heart trouble is common also and no money cannot keep it away, health cannot prevent it, and the only cure for it is Jesus.

Scripture: (John 14:1-3) Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Dwight L. Moody told of the young man who did not want to serve in Napoleon Bonaparte’s army. When he was drafted, a friend volunteered to go in his place. The substitution was made, and some time later the surrogate was killed in battle. The same young man was, through a clerical error, drafted again. "You can’t take me" he told the startled officers. "I’m dead. I died on the battlefield."
They argued that they could see him standing right in front of them, but he insisted they look on the roll to find the record of his death. Sure enough, there on the roll was the man’s name, with another name written beside it.

The case finally went to the emperor himself. After examining the evidence, Napoleon said, "Through a surrogate, this man has not only fought, but has died in his country’s service. No man can die more than once, therefore the law has no claim on him."

Two thousand years ago, Jesus went to a cross to bear the penalty that rightly belonged to us. He died in our place. And through Him, our names are written in the book, with His name written beside ours. Hold on precious saints of God. It may feel like it is over, but it is not over… til God says it is over. Do not fret and do not live in fear. God Still has you in the palm of His Hands.

May God ever bless and keep you is my prayer.

Ashley Knedler

Do whatever it takes to follow God. Don't let what you want override what He wants. Believe in Him. He knows what is best. God had a plan for you before you were born. It is a wonderful plan better than anything you can imagine. Watch and see if His will isn't better than your will. When our wills merge with God’s will, blessings abound. It is precious to God that you desire to do His will.

Psalm 139:16-17 (NLT) "You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered!"

God's will, first and foremost, is that we have a relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth” (1 Timothy 2:3-4).

God wants us to be Christ's disciples. This means Christians must be committed to following God's will daily, whatever the cost. “If anyone would come to me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me” (Luke 9:23).

God promises to give us wisdom if we just ask Him in prayer, believing that He will give it. Sometimes we need to just ask God to give us wisdom to discern His will.  “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5).

God has given us the Holy Spirit for guidance.  “…when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth…” (John 16:13a).

The Bible says that there is a peace that comes when we are pleasing God with our lives.

When deciding between two alternatives that you have been praying about, sometimes one of the options will give you a greater peace. That option is probably God's will.

God bless you all.

Thursday's Word

Colin Carey
THE STRUGGLE IS REAL

The reality is that many normal Christians walk away from their faith for periods of time, for whatever reason. Challenges and temptation spin people around and bring them to their knees. Especially where hurt, shame, doubt, or lack of support is involved, it’s easy to walk or run away from the faith-based life. But what about our testimonies?  Have we forgotten we are to be witnesses in the earth?

It’s Time to Get Real

The way we do testimonies needs to change. If we are still trying to make church, faith, and Christian living real, testimonies need to get real, too. We can’t act like our struggles magically disappeared when we accepted Christ.  Anything but the truth does a disservice to ourselves, to truth, and to each other. People can identify with struggle. We all are struggling on one level or the other. But it is the testimonies that we are able to share with others that God will use to strength them. Do not be ashamed, or afraid to let others know you have been through things. One of the biggest reasons people stay away from Church is because they think the ones there are “perfect.”  They think they are not allowed to struggle.

Struggle is a reality. Temptation is a reality. Failure is a reality. Yes, even for those who are actively walking with Christ.

We can and should work to change Christian culture so that struggle doesn’t have to be so embarrassing. The reality of Christ is that shame isn’t ours to bear (Isaiah 61:7). The reality of living in faith is that Christians need to support each other (Ephesians 4, 5). “One Lord, one faith, one baptism,  One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” Telling real testimonies is key for that.

When Christians relay their stories as if their  stories, these become powerful turning points that happened along the road that built their faith and trust in God. Allow others to witness through your life and your testimony just how Good God Is!!!  You do not have to share it with the world: within your ministry groups, within your family(some family members think we who are strong never struggle, because we continue to take everything on)… Share your testimony with a stranger…you can see their struggle with addictions, alcohol, drugs, food,  etc.  We have not always been saved. We have been in the world, so we need to witness to those who can benefit from the testimony of Jesus Christ. If you know of a place where others can get a free meal, let them people who are struggling know.

Thursday's Word

Hatim Belyamani

Since the presence of praise is voiced continually in heaven, our voices should also be lifted up in praise to our Lord. In 1Thessalonians 5:16-18 we are told to, "Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." The Lord tells us here that we are to have an attitude of joy, thanksgiving and prayer at all times, no matter what the conditions or circumstances are that surround us.
This verse does not mean that we are to thank God for bad things and tragedies that come our way. It means that we are to remain joyful no matter what is happening in our lives because we have the Lord, and in Him we shall overcome no matter what the devil is trying to do to us.

The Lord does not want us to thank Him for the bad things that happen to us because He did not send them. He is not the author of evil. We are not to become bitter over life's circumstances, but rather to continue to rejoice in the Lord. It is the will of God for us to rejoice no matter what comes. It is not the will of God to receive evil things as from Him. It is an insult to God to thank Him for accidents, sickness, tragedy, etc. He does not send those things to us, the devil does. We are told to resist the devil, and submit to God. (James 4:7, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.") We are to love and rejoice in the Lord in spite of what the devil tries to do to us.

One of Satan's favorite schemes is to send something bad into someone's life and blame it on God. If he can get people to believe it is from the Lord, he has an easier time convincing them of his next lie, that God has failed them and deserted them. He follows this up with a further lie, "Why go on serving a God who does these kinds of things to you?" Satan's real target is to destroy our faith in God. He just attacks different areas to get at different people. "I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears."

We are to bless God at all times, not just when things go smoothly. We are to bless Him when things go wrong, too. We are to boast in the Lord even when all looks bleak.

God bless you all.

Thursday's Word

Barby Dabosco

Prayer is like our compass in life, and the needle that points north is the focus of our faith in the living God. He is the “north” on our “compass.” He is the centerpoint.

Regardless of what life throws at us, whether it’s a long, hard climb to the top of our profession or career, or the steady trail of perseverance as we set out to achieve our goals, or the confusion and lost feeling that can envelope us when we find ourselves in a thicket of problems and pressures and pain—if our prayers are focused on the living God, they will make a difference. In us. In our circumstances. In others. In our church. In our nation. In our world.

Abraham waited for the promised son. Moses waited forty years in the wilderness. Jesus waited thirty years before he began his ministry. God instills seasons of silence in his plan. Winter is needed for the soil to bear fruit. Time is needed for the development of a crop. And disciples wait for the move of God. “God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way,” a beautiful promise in Psalm 25:9.

As we pray, we are to learn to wait expectantly on the answer. God is not hard of hearing our prayers.  He will answer in His own time. Center your focus on the prayer being answered...what are you going to do when He answers that long awaited prayer?!!  How will you respond?  How will you react when He answers....It could be today!!

God bless you all.

Thursday's Word

Martin NorƩn

“I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase and the trees of the field yield their fruit.” (Leviticus 26:4, AMP)

God has set up seasons in our lives. There are plowing seasons. There are planting seasons. There are watering seasons. Sure, we would love for every season to be a time of increase left and right with good breaks everywhere. But without the other seasons, we wouldn’t be prepared. For example, it’s during the plowing season that God brings issues to light that we need to deal with. He’s getting us prepared for promotion.

If you’re not making as much progress as you would like, the key is to not lose any ground. Don’t go backwards. Hold your position. Keep a good attitude and do the right thing even when it’s hard. When you do that, you are passing the test, and God promises that your due season of harvest is coming. Be encouraged because your appointed time of increase, favor and promotion is on its way. He’s preparing you for the harvest—to see every dream and every desire fulfilled in Jesus’ name!

Hold your ground – you shall reap if you do not faint!

Subject: THURSDAY'S WORD

Patrick Schƶpflin

“‘...My people will be filled with My bounty,’ declares the LORD.”  (Jeremiah 31:14, NIV)

What does it mean to be filled? It means to be satisfied. It means having more than enough to meet your needs so that you can be a blessing to others. But it all starts with our level of expectancy. My question for you today is what are you believing for? What are you expecting? You might say, “Well, I don’t think I’ll ever meet my sales goals.” Or, “I don’t think I’ll ever get promoted. I’m not that qualified.” “I don’t think I’ll ever get well.” The problem is that you’re not looking for those good breaks. You’re not expecting increase. You’re not positioning yourself for God to fill you, and unfortunately, you won’t be disappointed.
Jesus said in scripture, “According to your faith it will be done unto you.” He might as well have said, “If you’ve got a cup, I’ll fill you with a cup level of blessing. If you’ve got a bucket, I’ll fill you with a bucket level of blessing.” But if you’ll take the limits off of God and believe for supernatural opportunities, if you’ll go out each day expecting far and beyond favor, you won’t be disappointed! He will fill you and satisfy you all the days of your life!
FILL MY CUP LORD…. LET IT FLOW, LORD…. Amen

Flying for the 2nd time this week with Brenda Smith

David Everett Strickler

I do not know what we are waiting on to use our gifts God has given us. God does not need ANY of these gifts we are holding onto for dear life in heaven. If you can preach, preach. If you can teach, teach. If you can sing, sing. If you can encourage, encourage. If you can feed the hungry, feed the hungry. Or clothe the naked.

If you are a Christian, you need to be doing these things and more. People are lost, hungry, tired, and hurting. (Matthew 25:35) It is past time that we start doing things to help people more. You do not have to be a mega-church to help. You need to be mega-minded...think Big you serve a Big God.

'Oh happy day!'

I know it isn't Thursday. Brenda is helping me out with a post today. And yes, she will be here on Thursday!

REMOVE THE STONE. We get to a crossroads in life and are afraid to move forward. Jesus said to Martha, remove the stone. Martha commented, Lord there will be a stench for he has been dead for four days. (Lazarus in the grave) No good will come if you do not obey God. Because Martha could not see any immediate good she assumed there was no good to be found. The refusal to remove the stone is saying ....God, I do not trust you with what I cannot see. Know that our sight is limited, our knowledge is limited, our understanding is limited. God already knows the end from the beginning. This is to be done for the Glory of God. When God ask you to do things you do not understand....do it anyway. Remove the stone. Remove the doubt. Remove the fears. (John 11:39-40). "Did I not say to you, if you believe, you will see the glory of God?"

A SECOND LOOK – ANOTHER CHANCE

Redd Angelo
Tamera was buying items at a yard sale on last summer. She spotted a bag that she had to investigate. It got her attention because it was pink, pink being her favorite color.  Then on closer examination she discovered it had a Coach design on the bag. You do not expect to find the designer original handbags at yard sales.  She picked it up and walked around the yard with it still looking at other items to purchase.  She would occasionally glance at it and even thought once to just put it back because it was dirty on the outside with spots.  She stopped and looked on the inside and there was loose powdered makeup spilled on the inside. It was dirty. It was not attractive, but could it be an “original” Coach bag.
Still she wanted to hold onto the bag, thinking…if nothing else I can try to clean it. They were only asking $5.00 for the bag. So she purchased the bag and took it home. She decided to try her hand at cleaning the bag and purchased a special cleanser. She was excited because the cleanser she used did an excellent job in getting the embedded dirt out the inside and it gave the outside a fresh clean appearance. It was shining and glowing as if it was an “original.” Hmmmm… the thought hit her as she was looking at how pretty the bag was. Could it be?  Who would sell an original Coach bag for only $5.00?  It had to be a knockoff.

Her curiosity got the best of her and she went on line and checked the bag on the Coach website. Wow! She had just purchased a designer original Coach bag for only $5.  She took the time to clean it and polish it to a shine, and when she did the original luster, glow, and design appeared. Isn’t that the way Jesus does us?  He takes us and gently applies His love and tender mercies toward us. The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made. (Psalm 145:9) He puts His spirit in us and we shine with the newness of life. We appear before Him dirty, damaged, broken, discarded, and even close to death. He takes us and makes us into something to be proud of. People see us and they see our Shine. It is all because of His patience and loving hands that molds and makes us into what He needs for the world to see.  Thank God I do not look like what I’ve gone through. Amen .

PRAYER IN TIME OF TROUBLE

LORD, HELP ME

Lord, in every need let me come to You with humble trust saying, "Jesus, help me."
In all my doubts, perplexities, and temptations, Jesus, help me.
In hours of loneliness, weariness, and trials, Jesus, help me.
In the failure of my plans and hopes; in disappointments, troubles, and sorrows, Jesus, help me.
When others fail me and Your grace alone can assist me, help me.
When I throw myself on Your tender love as a father and savior, Jesus, help me.
When my heart is cast down by failure at seeing no good come from my efforts, Jesus, help me.
When I feel impatient and my cross irritates me, Jesus, help me.
When I am ill and my head and hands cannot work and I am lonely, Jesus, help me.
Always, always, in spite of weakness, falls, and shortcomings of every kind, Jesus, help me and never forsake me.
Amen.

Flying with Thursday's Word by Brenda Smith

wayman H
Do you think God intervenes in our daily lives today? Do you think He gets involved, so as to alter or hinder an action, or through force or threat of force, steps in and does what we know only God could do? That would be divine intervention. Divine because it is of God. God intervened in the human world over 2000 years ago when He sent Jesus to become our Savior. He interposed Himself between us and the penalty of sin that was due us and took it upon Himself.  Scripture states in I Corin. 1:30 “But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:  This was an eternal act of intervention, never to be done away with and will never be repeated.  Because of Jesus’ redemptive work on the cross, He interposed Himself between us and our sin and reconciled us to God.

We are called by our friends to be intercessors or to stand in the gap and make up a hedge around people. This is our ministry of “intervention” or “interposing” ourselves between someone and their need. The Holy Spirit makes intercession for us “And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:27). For it is in our desperation and in our deepest need for help that we find we cannot pray, and we sometimes don’t know what to pray for. But the The Holy Spirit knows what we need by searching our hearts! He speaks to God in our place and God steps in and bring about a different result than what we are seeing.

We have been through much this past year, but I believe that God is going to intervene suddenly on behalf of His people and do some marvelous and wonderful things in our lives. God steps into our situations no matter how difficult they are and brings renewal, restoration,  and revival to our hearts. God can help you when you can’t seem to help yourself.

Flying with Thursday's Word by Brenda Smith

Thursday's Word

WORD: WORK

DEFINED: Effort directed to produce or accomplish something.

SCRIPTURE: "Faith without works is dead." (James 2:20)

Are you giving life to your faith? If we aren’t doing something that shows that we believe God, the Bible says that our faith is dead. Dead faith won’t accomplish anything. We have to give life to our faith by putting actions behind it. It doesn’t have to be anything big, just something that shows your faith in God. For example, I know people who are down and discouraged. They pray, “God, please get me out of this discouragement. God, give me my joy back. God, give me a new beginning.” And yes, prayer is important, but it’s only part of the process. What really causes God to act is when you do something about it—you get back up, dust yourself off, and say, “You know what? I’m not going to stay down. This is the day the Lord has made! I am going to be happy and have a great day.” That’s putting action behind your faith.

I encourage you today to let your actions give life to your faith. Show the world that you are trusting God’s Word. As you do, you’ll give life to your faith and step into new levels of His victory and blessing in every area of your life!

Father, thank You for Your Word that builds faith in my heart and refreshes my soul. I choose to put action behind my faith today. I choose to give life to my faith so that You can accomplish Your will in me in Jesus’ name.  Amen.
