Flying with self love #21

We are closing out on this series of self love. Just remember, "I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all". You should say and BELIEVE it daily.

If this month of self love has not transformed you, have patience and heed the words of a dear sistergirlfriend LaVondilyn Watson:

It's not that things are moving slowly, it's just that patience is doing it's perfect work in you!
Love yourself and hug yourself often!

Flying with self love #20

How is that self-love going? Today try to let go of all resentment and anger you have towards yourself and others. Today, be genuinely free and happy. Today be totally in love with yourself. That is not the same thing as being self absorbed. Being totally in love with yourself means that you pay attention to you. Not exclusively, but inclusively.

Resentment is like drinking a poison and waiting for the other person do die.
Carrie Fisher

Flying with self love #19

It is something that we all do not always think about. This was sent to me by my sistergirlfriend Linda Neils!

Letting go of negative people does not mean I hate them,
It just means I love me!

Please continue your journey of self-love for the rest of your life. It is vital to your happiness and to your success.

Flying with self love #18

During this time of increased self love, I wanted to share this quote with you. It is one of my favorites and it is on my bathroom mirror.

Edward Teller “When you get to the end of all the light you know and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught how to fly.”

Brace yourself for new adventures, for new relationships, for new challenges, and for new hope. Yes, these things may take you to the end of all you know, but so what? Isn't that what soaring is all about? Don't you love yourself enough to take that ride? (if not repeat my mantra: I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all). You will never know what awaits you if you don't try. Don't you want to learn to fly, higher?

Flying with self love #17

All together now, "I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all." I wish that was set to music! Of course, I would not be singing it to you!

Life's challenges are not supposed to paralyze you, they're supposed to help you discover who you are.
Bernice Johnson Reagon
Discover who you are while you are loving yourself, do not wait!

Flying with self love #16

Are you loving yourself today? There is absolutely, positively no reason not to. You are the greatest gift you can give. You are the only thing you can give that someone else cannot copy. You are original. You are the best you there is.

We shouldn't try to be the best in the world, we should try to be the best for the world.
Bill Johnson

Flying with self love #15

Did you remember to say "I love me. No matter what else happens to day, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all"? Is it hanging on your bathroom mirror? Is it in your purse or somewhere else where you can look at it often?

Remember this quote from RevRunWisdom: try to turn that same love and dedication you give to these vultures and leeches into self love. Hug yourself.

Flying with self love #14

Sometimes self love means that we have to be patient. We must remember that things happen in God's time, not ours.

For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2:3

Flying with self love #13

Self love calls for A LOT of patience. Even when it does not feel like it, look like it, taste like it, or sound like it know that there is a plan. When all else fails, hug yourself.

For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a good future.
Jeremiah 29:11

Flying with self love #12

Did you buy yourself something or do something for yourself yesterday? If not, do it today. You deserve it. Do not cheat yourself out of something that can make you smile. And if you bought something or did something for yourself yesterday, hold on to that feeling and do it again more often. Do not wait for a special day. Loving yourself should be automatic no matter how you display it.

Flying with self love #11

Today is probably the most intense day of love. That is why it is crucial that you show yourself some extra love today. It does not matter if someone else is showing you love. It does not matter if no one else is showing you love. It does matter that you show yourself love. So today, do something good for yourself. It does not matter how much you spend or if you spend anything. One of my favorite treats for myself is to walk on the beach. The important thing is that you do something FOR YOU.

This is a practice I truly believe in and let me tell you why. A million years ago I made a fantastic dinner for my date on Valentine's Day. I had salmon and scallops with a ginger lime glaze, green beans with almonds and oranges, salad with homemade dressing, and my very own handmade truffles. The champagne was chilled and guess what? HE NEVER SHOWED UP. HE NEVER CALLED AND TO THIS DAY I HAVE NOT HEARD FROM HIM. I do know for a fact that he is not dead.

I was crushed. So, I went out and did something nice for myself. I bought an ice cream cone. Yes, I thought that everyone in the ice cream shop knew exactly what had happened and that they were feeling sorry for me. They weren't. I know that now. I am proud of myself for actually going out of my house on the fateful day and celebrating, even just a tiny bit.

So now, every Valentine's Day I do something to celebrate the fact that someone loves me even if it is me. I challenge you to do the same. We are all worthy of love, good love, the kind that we can depend on.

Happy Valentine's Day Sistergirlfriend, love yourself today of all days!

Flying with self love #10

If you are not getting where you want to be fast enough or if you are getting discouraged remember this:

Note to self: even small steps count as progress, do not discount them, celebrate them because in the end they get you where you need to be.

Flying with self love #9

Self love often involves taking risks. Risks that could propel you out of where you into greater realities. This action takes us out of our comfort zone, but the rewards can be remarkable.

Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, professionals built the Titanic.
LL Cool J

Flying with self love #8

I think it is time to hear it again: "I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all".

Not matter what happens today, tomorrow, or the next day:

Don't let life discourage you; everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was.

Flying with self love #7

I just needed to hear this again "I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all". Okay, got that out of my system for a few minutes! It is good to say it over and over again. It is more important to actually BELIEVE it.

Do not fall into the plot where you allow what happened to you before to color your future. Every day you have the opportunity to begin again with love.

Your past does not disqualify you from your future.
Craig L. Sanders

Flying with self love #6

Self love does not require perpetual movement. There are times when we need to take a breath and just breathe. I am not very good at that which is why I am tired a lot of the time. I need to put this quote on my bathroom mirror. Thinking is not being lazy. It can be productive. And it is necessary for flying because you should know what you are doing, where you are going, and how to get there. Do not let success be a one time thing.

"Never be afraid to sit awhile and think."
Lorraine Hansbury

Flying with self love #5

Are you standing in your own way? That is not good self love. You should be open to new experiences and ideas. You should allow yourself to venture out and explore what there is inside of you. This your life, live it to the fullest.

"Most of the shadows of life are caused by standing in our own sunshine."

Ralph Waldo Emerson

Flying with self love #4

How is the self love going today? Have you done something good for yourself today? If not, what are you waiting for? Stop waiting and start living.

Start living now. Stop saving the good china for that special occasion. Stop withholding your love until that special person materializes. Every day you are alive is a special occasion. Every minute, every breath, is a gift from God.

Flying with self love #3

It is midweek and I want to remind you of our mantra:

"I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all".

Do you have big weekend plans? If you are struggling think about this:

Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.
Vincent vanGogh
Take a step. Regardless of the outcome, remember to love yourself and remind yourself of that often. Don't wait on someone else to say it to you. Stay it to yourself and mean it.

Flying with self love #2

A lot of things have been going on and not going on in my life. I need to stay positive and not allow distractions, disasters, disappoints to rob me of my joy.

"I love me. No matter what else happens today, tomorrow, or the next day I will always love me perfect imperfections and all".

I am a feminist, and what that means to me is much the same as the meaning of the fact that I am Black: it means that I must undertake to love myself and to respect myself as though my very life depends upon self-love and self-respect.
June Jordan
