I love reading the things that Angie Mizzell writes. I always feel that she is in my head saying the things that I dare not to, that I forget about, or that I think are too trivial to discuss. and of course she does it very eloquently. I am waiting for the day that we both write about the same thing. That has not happened yet probably because we both have not yet given ourselves permission to write without thinking too much about what others will think. Or maybe that is just my excuse.
Her latest piece starts out "I had just moved across the country with my husband, our male, single roommate, and my mother". There is a lot of introspection that follows in Angie's usual conversational style. If you have ever batted yourself in the head with the 'what ifs' this is a piece you definitely have to read.

For a very long time, no one told African American women that they could fly, so there are very few of them as commercial pilots. This website is for inspiring women to fly. Flying being defined as succeeding. Succeeding defined however you decide. We are simply here to tell you sistergirlfriend, YOU CAN FLY!

Flying with understanding
Every now and then I get really upset because I cannot seem to do all that I think I should be doing. Why can't I run faster? Why can't I finish this dissertation now? And the list goes on. Fortunately, my dear sistergirlfriend Angie Mizzell sent this to me or maybe I stole it from her off of Twitter. It rings true to me and I try to keep her wise words in mind when things are not as I think they should be.
It's so important to remember to share the wheel with our maker. And let Him drive as often as we can. I often get frustrated with my own limitations, then I remember that we were created that way for a reason.

Flying with prayer
As the days start to get frantic and you realize that you are not feeling like yourself, stop, breathe and pray. Whatever you are going through is temporary. Feel the season, live the season, give thanks, hug someone, and pray.
Another good thing to do is to be as my dear sistergirlfriend Angie Mizzell writes in her essay in Hybrid Mom "crazy patient". Go to her blog at http://angiemizzell.com and click on the link. Read it and smile.
