Flying through dreams, a re-post

davide ragusa
A sister girlfriend told me about a dream that she had. She thought it was foreshadowing the outcome of an important meeting. As it turned out, it wasn’t. The meeting went well. But what happens when our dreams do not come true? Do they come true later? Or do they expire when we wake up? What happens when your hopes do not materialize when you think they should? Do you give up? Do you make other plans?

What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore-- And then run? Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over-- like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?
