Flying with strength

Yesterday I heard a new word 'emfeebled' which means to deprive of strength. It is a powerful word. One that I had not heard before yesterday, but one that I understand and can relate to. Are you depriving yourself of strength? Are you telling yourself that you can't, aren't pretty enough, aren't smart enough, that you aren't anything that you wish you were? 

Why do we do that to ourselves? Why do we enfeeble ourselves? It is safer to think what we are less than what we are? Do we think that if we deny ourselves what we really want some way we will get it from God because we are humble? Really?
