Flying without the big shamammy

I had one of the best birthdays of my life with my fit and fabulous friends. This has been a tough year for me, but I knew that I needed to celebrate my birthday. Usually I throw a big shamammy (a word I am borrowing from Yvonne). This year I decided to celebrate something that no matter what, I am grateful for.
I chose my health.

So, I got a group of my friends to run 5.1 miles on the Isle of Palms beach with drinks and dinner afterwards. We had the best time. The sand really worked out our calves and we chatted as the miles went by. Then we had a pitcher of margaritas and food with an ocean view.

I am blessed to have amazing friends or to use my word 'sistergirlfriends'. I did not miss the big shamammy at all. In fact, I think I prefer getting my sweat on with some of the best people in my life so much better.
Pam made the birthday cupcakes. And we all had at least one. After all,  isn't that what birthdays are for?

Don't walk behind me; I may not lead. Don't walk in front of me; I may not follow. Just walk (run) beside me and be my friend.
