How awesome is it that Venus Williams won her fifth Wimbledon singles title Saturday? It may not be revelant that she beat younger sister Serena Williams 7-5, 6-4 in the final. What is relevant is the the sisters are the Queen and Crown Princess of Wimbledon.
Do you think it was easy for them? Don't you think they have heard it all on their trek to greatness. You are too big. You are too Black. You just don't have what it takes. You should not play in braids and beads. Yet against all nay-sayers and dream stealers, they prevailed more than once, more than twice. This was Venus's 5th win.
What is your Wimbledon? How are you flying in the face of the nay-sayers and dream stealers? It might be losing weight, finishing a degree, starting a business, completing a race, or anything else that is important to you.
The key is do not allow someone else to stop you from flying. The key is to fly higher in the face of doubters. The key is to realize that only you can fulfill your destiny. Keep flying and when you start that backwards slide, remember the Williams sisters.
For a very long time, no one told African American women that they could fly, so there are very few of them as commercial pilots. This website is for inspiring women to fly. Flying being defined as succeeding. Succeeding defined however you decide. We are simply here to tell you sistergirlfriend, YOU CAN FLY!
