Flying in agreement

While searching for solace a while back, (before I understood the concept of flying and appreciating the flight) I stumbled upon a book by Don Miguel titled The Four Agreements. I have read and re-read this book several times. I have long since realized that I can control how I react to whatever is thrown in front of me. I am in control of the altitude and the attitude of my flight. Okay, Monday I did have a bit of a problem. I do slip from time to time. However, deep down inside I do know that I need to be in agreement with myself and my God. It is my responsibility to be aware of my surroundings (physical and mental) and to adapt my flight patterns accordingly. I should remember to pray when things seem out of my control.

I love the four agreements because they bring logic and understanding in times of turmoil. During most times when flying seems impossible.

Below is a synopsis of the four agreements.

The Four Agreements by Don Miguel

Agreement 1

Be impeccable with your word - Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

Agreement 2

Don’t take anything personally - Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

Agreement 3

Don’t make assumptions - Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

Agreement 4

Always do your best - Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

D, Girlfriend, I love the 4 agreements. I struggled with "Dont take anything personally, for a long time... How could I NOT take offense to an Offense?
Well thank God/goddess or spiritmothers who will explain and reexplain and guide us towards the light.
If someone has done something to me that in the past would have offended me, I now have compassion for them. What kind of nightmare must she be going thru to want to lash out at someone?
Don Miguel is wise and I celebrate that I live in this time when I can learn from his words and YOURS.
Thank you.
North Carolina is grand,

I struggled with all of the agreements! I am finally an expert at not taking things personally. I found that I do not have the need to affiliate, I have the need to achieve. (I am taking my recent psychology class to heart)! O agree, we need God/goddess or spiritmothers and sister girlfriends to light our way and to show us the true talent of flying.

Thank you both, Doretha & Cookie.

Doretha,

Thank you for sharing your struggle AND victories. I'm hearing you and your words are settling in my soul. The reflection of God's words and will conveyed in your life are empowering. You've sheltered me beneath your wings until I could regain strength.

I am most grateful.
Tina
