Flying through time

Todd Quackenbush

Hasn't this year gone by fast? We are already in October. I even saw a countdown to Christmas. Christmas! We have not even gone trick-or-treating yet. Or eaten the Thanksgiving turkey.

I am trying every hard not to wish the rest of the year away. You know when you say I wish it was Friday or any other day that is not today. It is hard.

We all wish for better times. We think that tomorrow or the next day or the day or month after that will bring something much better. And sometimes it does. And sometimes we do not appreciate the better because we are so busy looking ahead to the next thing.

Just for today, live in the moment. Pay attention to what is around you. Don't wish the time away. Once it is gone it is gone and you may have missed a lot.

Time is the most valuable thing of earth: time to think, time to act, time to extend our fraternal relations, time to become better men, time to become better women, time to become better and more independent citizens.

We have to tell little girls that they can fly and be more than just housewives or someone's girlfriend. I am 70 and come out of a different generation. Kids could quit school in the 8th grade back in the 1950s, no questions asked. My mother took me aside when I graduated 8th grade and told me it was alright if I wanted to quit school, find a husband, and get married during the summer. Her goals for me were not ones to let me fly and become. I only stayed in school because I liked it. Today, I am Jo Hammers the Mystic and I have written 18 published books and have a blog. I had to learn to fly on my own.
