Thursday's Word

WORD: TEAMWORK

DEFINED: Cooperative or coordinated effort on the part of a group of persons acting together as a team or in the interests of a common cause.

SCRIPTURE: (I Cor. 12:14 NIV) “For in fact the body is not one member but many.”  

 

You can’t play team sports like soccer or football if you have not learned how to be part of a team. The only way to be effective is by realizing that every person has a role to play in winning the game.  The objective of the game is to win. It takes teamwork to fill the church with souls and to keep them. God wants us to be Team players in order to grow His kingdom. That’s why Paul compares us to members in a human body.

If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? ¹⁶ And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? ¹⁷ If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? ¹⁸ But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. ¹⁹ And if they were all one member, where would the bodybe?

We are all different, but very useful to the building of God’s Kingdom. Jesus surrounded himself with a tax collector, a physician, fishermen, woman who was a prostitute and at one time possessed with seven demons. Some were poor. Some were wealthy. Some were energetic, while others were passive. Some were explosive…like Peter. Others, like James, were logical. The key is that Jesus tapped all available resources and used them for building of the Kingdom of God.

 

Bring your gifts and talents to work to build the Kingdom of God! When we work as a team we are accountable to one another. When one is going through something you tell the rest and they help you get back on track. We are going to be united. There is power in unity. The foundation has been laid and we are to build on it.

 

TEAMWORK is what the Kingdom of God is all about. It will get results and you will feel better about yourself, knowing that if souls are getting saved is because you are doing your part that God has given to you.
