Our
response to being rejected says volumes about our integrity and our
personal witness. Our ability to share Christ effectively. Do not be
surprised when you are rejected. Jesus was rejected. So, how do we deal
with rejection? Are we ready to quit speaking the truth at the first
sign of rejection? If you have never had an experience like Jesus did in
the Gospel, you can certainly learn from his example. From Jesus you
can learn to be confident no matter what someone's response might be.
You can learn that not everyone with whom you share the Gospel will
listen. You can even learn that the world will hate you, because you are
a child of God. God has promised that his Word won't return to him
empty, but will accomplish the purpose for which he sent it.
The
Apostles were not the most desireable folks. Jesus embraced them and
used them. God accepts what man rejects. Jesus Himself was rejected by
man, but accepted by God! When a person rejects you, remember, God
accepts you. Jesus tells the Apostles what they are to do when they are
rejected. He tells them to shake the dust from their feet as a testimony
against them. The disciples were not to see or feel this as personal
rejection or as a personal failure. The were to see people rejecting
God's kingdom. Shaking the dust off their feet showed that they
separated themselves entirely from every particle that had to do with
the village.
Remember Saints.....
1. When we are rejected, see it as a sign that we do not need to be with that person or in that situation.
2. Instead of thinking, how bad off I am, think about what a great person the one who rejected you will be missing!
3. You are valuable in God's eyes and if the one who rejects you cannot see that, then you are better off without them.
Do not let
rejection from the world make you think you are rejected by God. Many
times people are not rejecting you, they are simply rejecting what you
STAND FOR. Continue to stand for the TRUTH, the WAY, and the LIFE -
which is in Jesus Christ.
Amen.
