Flying saying good-bye to Oprah

Yesterday I was privileged to attend an showing of the last Oprah episode at the local television station with about 20 fabulous women. I was also honored to be interviewed in the news program after the show.

As I watched the show I thought about all of the lessons that Oprah handed out over the years. The one that resonated the most to me was You are worthy because you were born. Your being alive makes you worthy. You alone are enough.

I needed to hear that again. I needed to hear that because there have been too many days when I wondered and even challenged God's plan for my life. I cried many, many tears because whatever or whomever wasn't working and of course it had to be my fault. I was either doing something or not doing something that was or wasn't supposed to be doing.

By admitting that I am worthy, that I am enough removes the blame that I placed on others and even myself for not doing, not getting, not having something or someone. That is empowering and humbling all at the same time. Knowing that is within my power to achieve; knowing that it is my duty to succeed carries much responsibility as it should. It should because I should be living my best life (another Oprah-speak) regardless of the nay-sayers. We all should.

Oprah has lit and carried the torch. It is up to me and it is up to you to continue fanning the flame. She has led the battle for us a very long time and now it is our turn.
