Flying while waiting or waiting while flying

A few months ago, my daily devotion was about waiting. It said Waiting builds character. Character is built during the hard times of waiting.

Have you been waiting for something that seems just out of reach? Or are you waiting for your THING to happen? I am waiting for things. I am waiting for my tote bag with all my school work from the past two years to be returned, I am waiting for my hair to grow, I am waiting for a romantic walk on the beach, I am waiting to make peace with something, and I am waiting for my THING to happen.

I guess we all need (at least I do) to remember that our characters are being built during this time of frustration. We need to have faith to know that we will be better because of this period of waiting. We should not allow this period of time to stop our flights. We should fly in spite of whatever is or is not happening. You can cry, scream, and holler while you fly, but you must keep flying. Remember, our blessings will come in God’s Time, not ours.

The scripture reference for this devotion is:

And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10

This segment me of the quote I read yesterday, "Patience is the ability to idle your motor when you feel like stripping your gears." I don't know that we were wired to idle, but we certainly are getting plenty of practice!

I love reading these. I am also waiting for a lot of things. Right now, waiting on my career to start. I am waiting for better days. But I have the courage and strength to wait it out. I have the peace of mind to know that one day the waiting will end, because God's near and HE answers prayers.
