Flying to vote

Did you have a primary today? Did you vote? Voting is the only way to have a voice. We have not had the right to vote very long.

Black men were "symbolically" given the right to vote with the 15th amendment, but were afraid for their lives. There were large efforts to persuade them not to vote. The poll tax was imposed, knowing fully that most blacks could not afford to pay it. This was lifted in 1964 with the 24th amendment.

Women on the other hand gained the right to vote in 1920 with the 19th amendment. Somewhere I had read that women would have gained the right sooner, had not so many turned up to vote.

So, if you have the opportunity, vote. Many people struggled and died to give us that right. Let's not let their progress be in vain.
