Flying with good feelings

The other day a dear sistergirlfriend lost her father and moved her mother into an assisted living facility in another state all in one week! Yes, she has superpowers. Yet, no one had ever told this wonderful woman that she was pretty. Not until she was visiting her mother and she noticed a tiny woman staring at her. After a while, the woman came up to her and said "You're so pretty". My dear sistergirlfriend wanted to cry. She had not ever heard those words spoken to her before. I am not sure why, because she is truly stunning, but it is what it is. Anyway, those three words had my friend flying and smiling to herself. Just the knowledge that someone thought she was pretty. I think she is and have never told her. Shame on me. And shame on the others.

So, today, instead of ASSUMING that someone knows how you feel about her, TELL HER. It does not have to be a big production. It just has to be real. And sistergirifriends, when someone tells you how she/he feels, simply say thank you. Do not say that you bought the shirt at Goodwill, or that your shoes are old and falling apart, or that you haven't had your hair professional done in weeks.

Just smile and say THANK YOU. The other half of giving a compliment graciously is receiving it the same way.

A sincere compliment and a simple thank you really is enough. Thank your for reminding us of that.

BRAVO on your column in Moxie today. Thanks for being real and giving us something to think about.
