Yes, I could have and probably should have watched a few YouTube videos before trying. But I was hungry and honestly, the thought never occured to me. Plus I had just watched someone carve a turkey a few days ago. It seemed easy enough.
Anyway, I did created carnage. It was delicious carnage. It wasn't pretty on the platter, but it tasted great. Isn't that what counts anyway? Does it really matter how it looked? When I posted it on Facebook one woman screamed at me to get a sharper knife. Well, where was she when I was trying to carve the thing? Most people said that they needed carving lessons as well. One woman said to just make sure I save the leftover bits for a great soup. And I did.
The moral of this story is that blessings do not always look the way we imagine them. Blessings can and do come in all shapes, sizes, and even out of carnage.
It's never too late. Don't focus on what was taken away. Find something to replace it, and acknowledge the blessing you have.
