A 70 woman in India had her first child! She had been trying to get pregnant for 50 years! Her 72-year old husband had not fathered a child during two previous marriages. Amazing! Mother and daughter are doing well. She is the second 70-year in India to have a baby this year. The other woman had twins. Medical technology have made pregnancy possible for older women. There is a lot of debate as to whether or not it is ethical to perform such procedures on a 70-year old woman. Interesting since 70-year old men can father child without much debate. Yes, I know that is another topic for another day.
It is true that the children of older couples could become orphans. There are children of younger couples who have become orphans, too. No one knows what the future holds, yet the law of probability is not on the side of older parents.
I still say CONGRATULATIONS to the new parents.
