Flying with hope, part 1

more from Brenda's blog

HELLO TO ALL and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
Hope is confident expectation.
Hope is a firm assurance regarding things that are unclear and unknown.
Hope is a fundamental component of the life of the righteous.
Without hope life loses its meaning.
Now more than ever Christians need to have hope. Our faith is being persecuted and tested in every area of life. The things we took for granted: that our children would be safe in school, that our jobs would be secure, our retirement plans were sound, bringing the gospel to the world would be met with hope. Yet, our healthcare is in peril. People are deciding everyday whether to eat or get their prescriptions filled(they sometimes cannot do both), and something as simple as affording to gas your car in order to go to work. This, too, has been jeopardized. All of these things are out of our control and at times they are mind boggling.
We cannot seem to "wrap our minds around it", but we have to depend on the One who formed the mind. The One who created peace(Jehovah Shalom). The One who calmed the storm with three little words..."Peace Be Still." God says in his Word in (John 16:33) "These things I have spoken  unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."  You have hope in this world today because you are an overcomer. There has been things brought in your life that you had to overcome. Our God is the God of hope, who causes us to "abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13). The Bible is full of God's promises that he gives to each Christian - a hope that will not disappoint (Romans 5:5).
