Flying with pear preserves

I hate pears. I really do, yet I love pear preserves. My mother and I made pear preserves together for the first time. We used her grandmother's recipe. We turned a fruit that I despise into a sweet treat that I will use generously upon occasion on my biscuits. The lesson of this story is that with effort and the right ingredients, we can turn an unpleasant situation into a palatable experience.
