Flying with Dolores

One of my very dear sistergirlfriends Dolores Paque is moving on today. It is something that she is doing willingly, yet I know that the change she has wished for is not without its anxieties. She is moving in the direction of her spirit which many refuse to do. She is setting her course for something more, something different, something familiar, something distinct, something intangible, and something required. That takes courage. That takes faith bigger than a mustard seed.

While those of us who know her will miss her and secretly wish that she would stay, we know deep in our hearts that the choice is not ours. The right choice is for us to let her go with tears, words of wisdom, thoughts of better days ahead, and promises to keep in touch. The right choice is for us to admire her for the road that lies ahead unclear and foggy with endless possibilities. The road that lies ahead with lots of change.

Godspeed, Dolores, you will be missed more than you will ever know.

Any change, any loss, does not make us victims. Others can shake you, surprise you, disappoint you, but they can't prevent you from acting, from taking the situation you're presented with and moving on. No matter where you are in life, no matter what your situation, you can always do something. You always have a choice and the choice can be power.
