The other day one of my dear sistergirlfriends told me that she has always celebrates Pentecostal Sunday. I have never celebrated Pentecostal Sunday (which was yesterday) and did not even know what it was. How did I miss that in all my years of Sunday school and church?
She explained that it is 40 days after Easter when Jesus had ascended, but he sent the Spirit so that believers could have the comfort, guidance, and empowerment of God's presence."Christ had promised His Apostles that He would sent His Holy Spirit, and, on Pentecost, they were granted the gifts of the Spirit. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude (or courage), knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.
My sistergirlfriend wrote all of the seven gifts on small pieces of paper and put them in a cup. Those who participated selected one piece of paper out of the cup. The word on that piece of paper symbolized our gifts. I chose fortitude (or courage)which is very appropriate for me during this stage of my life.
What gift would you want delivered to your door step right now? What gift do you most need? Write the seven gifts on paper and select one. Then realize that you now have the gift and live your life accordingly.
