Those who have known me a while know that I am waiting on my THING. While I am not exactly sure what it is, I am completely sure of what it will feel like when I get it. This past week I have been blessed with a few things. None of them were the THING, but they should not be discounted. I am learning not to look at them as consolation prizes, you know the prize you get for showing up.
I have learned that it is important to celebrate (borrowing from sistergirlfriend Angie Mizzel's blog last Friday at http://angiemizzell.com) the little things that happen along our journey to the big THING. If we cannot accept and be gracious for them, what makes us think we can handle the THING when it comes. And trust me, it is coming.
So going forward, be happy for the small things and do not fret that your THING hasn't come yet. Make a list of the little things and go celebrate anyway you want to. I'm thinking champagne, but that is me. Who knows, maybe one of those small things will materialize into the THING. Or maybe the THING is right behind the little thing. Time will tell, so practice celebrating now so you will be ready.
