Sometimes, I really am rendered wordless.
This morning at 7:50 AM was one of those times.
Every week in my church, Unity Church of Charleston,
We sing this song.
Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as Creator,
United all are we.
Let us walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take
Let this be my JOYOUS vow;
To take each moment
And live each moment
With peace eternally.
Let ther be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
In Surprise, US President Obama Wins Nobel for Diplomacy
WASHINGTON — U.S. President Barack Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize on Friday.
In a stunning surprise, the Nobel Committee announced in Oslo that it has awarded the annual prize to the president
“for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.”
The award cited in particular Mr. Obama’s effort to reduce the world’s nuclear arsenal.
“He has created a new international climate,” the committee said.
The announcement, coming extraordinarily early in Mr. Obama’s presidency — less than nine months after he took office as the first African American president — shocked people from Norway to Washington.
The full citation read:
“The Norwegian Nobel Committee has decided that the Nobel Peace Prize for 2009 is to be awarded to President Barack Obama for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.
The Committee has attached special importance to Obama’s vision of and work for a world without nuclear weapons.
“Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics.
Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations.
Thanks to Obama’s initiative, the United States is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting.
Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.”
Singing "The Peace Song," will be especially sweet this Sunday.
Congratulations, to our President, Our Nation and our World.
Flying High on the Wings of Peace,
Cookie
