Flying with Candace Parker

Women can jump and the really good ones can even dunk a basketball! Candace Parker was a two-time All-American at Tennessee, which she led to two national championships (2007, 2008). As a pro, she became the first WNBA player to win rookie of the year and league MVP honors in the same year (2008). But she grabbed national headlines in 2006 when she became the first female college player to dunk in a game.

Of course, this was nothing new for Parker, as her dunking prowess was on full display during the 2004 McDonald's High School All-American game. The then-17-year-old edged out J.R. Smith, among others, in the slam-dunk contest to claim the same prize that had been won by LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony in the previous two years.
