Flying with Danica Patrick
I am not an avid fan of Indy races, although while living in Indianapolis I did go to Carburation Day every year. Danica Patrick wasn't the first female Indy racer (that credit goes to Janet Guthrie), but she certainly has proven to be the fastest. Patrick had shown promise since her IRL debut in 2005, when she won three poles and finished fourth in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing, the Indianapolis 500, but her breakthrough moment came in 2008 when she won an IRL race in Japan (she is pictured on the podium with Helio Castroneves, left, and Scott Dixon, right). "Finally. It's a long time coming," Patrick said after becoming the first female driver to win a major open-wheel race.
