Flying with Thursday's Word by Brenda Smith

Thursday's Word

Barby Dabosco

Prayer is like our compass in life, and the needle that points north is the focus of our faith in the living God. He is the “north” on our “compass.” He is the centerpoint.

Regardless of what life throws at us, whether it’s a long, hard climb to the top of our profession or career, or the steady trail of perseverance as we set out to achieve our goals, or the confusion and lost feeling that can envelope us when we find ourselves in a thicket of problems and pressures and pain—if our prayers are focused on the living God, they will make a difference. In us. In our circumstances. In others. In our church. In our nation. In our world.

Abraham waited for the promised son. Moses waited forty years in the wilderness. Jesus waited thirty years before he began his ministry. God instills seasons of silence in his plan. Winter is needed for the soil to bear fruit. Time is needed for the development of a crop. And disciples wait for the move of God. “God guides the humble in what is right and teaches them his way,” a beautiful promise in Psalm 25:9.

As we pray, we are to learn to wait expectantly on the answer. God is not hard of hearing our prayers.  He will answer in His own time. Center your focus on the prayer being answered...what are you going to do when He answers that long awaited prayer?!!  How will you respond?  How will you react when He answers....It could be today!!

God bless you all.
