Flying with your true self, a re-post

Aaron Burden

Lately I have felt the pressure to conform into someone I am not. I do understand and appreciate the need for rules and regulations. I do not appreciate having to define myself by someone else's idea of integrity, honesty, and dignity. I have a right to my own thoughts, opinions, and desires. I do not have to want what you want. I do not have to eat what you eat. I do not have to go where you go. And quite honestly, most of the time I don't want what you want anyway.

Do you face those struggles? Do you think you should quietly blend in just to earn a paycheck, gain acceptance from a group, or to keep a lover?

If I cannot sleep at night after making a decision, something is wrong.

The voice of our original self is often muffled, overwhelmed even strangled, by the voices of other people's expectations.-
