Flying on empty

Tirza van Dijk
There are times after going full steam ahead we need to step back relax and recharge. I usually do not give myself time to do that and end up on empty. Empty comes in many forms. Sometimes it is a bad mood, anxiety, sleeplessness, sleepiness, forgetfulness, or injury just to name a few.

It seems to be common sense that we should allow ourselves to recharge and refuel. We charge all of our electronics and even put gas in our cars. Why do we treat ourselves differently?

Why do we run on empty? Why do we think that we can do everything even when we are tired?

Today take some time to recharge. Read a book, walk on the beach, or get a pedicure. It is important that you take care of you.

I have a simple philosophy: Fill what's empty. Empty what's full. Scratch where it itches.
