WORD: NOTHING
DEFINED: Something of no importance or significance
SCRIPTURE: “So he went up and looked, and said, “There is nothing.” And seven times he said, “Go again.” ( I Kings 18:43)
Just
because we don’t always see it – does not mean it is not there. God
gives us rams in bushes. Rainbows after the rain. Ravens to feed us when
we are hungry. A rod and staff to comfort us. Goodness and Mercy shall
be ours all the days of our lives. He gives us sunshine after the rain. He always gives us something and never nothing!
And
Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound
of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah
went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth,
and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now,
look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is
nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there
ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said,
Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the
rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the
heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain (1
Kings 18:41-45). Though the answers of our passionate and consistent
prayers
may not come quickly, nor may it always be on the grand scale as we
ask, we must respect the sovereignty of God to impose His will on us
rather than subject us to our own. Although we believe what we 'want' is
best for us, God's precise measure covers us in humility and grace. In
these times, we must continue to persevere and maintain our faith in
prayer, and not faint or give up. A little cloud at length appeared,
which soon overspread the heavens, and watered the earth. Showers of
plenty from a cloud of barely the span of a hand long. Though patience
and faith may be tested, in perseverance great blessings often arise
from small beginnings. Let us never despise the day of small things, but
hope and wait for great things from it. From what small beginnings have
great matters arisen! Look at what faith the size of a mustard seed can
do! How strongly spoken is that still small voice among the noise of
life! Believe!
May God continue to bless you is my prayer.
