Flying with a double portion by Brenda Smith

Double – Twice as large. Two fold in size.
Portion – The part of an estate that goes to an heir.

Isaiah 61:6 “And you will be called priests of the Lord…You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast. Instead of their shame My people will receive a double portion…they will inherit a double portion in their land.”
God wants to bless His people. He wants to demonstrate His love and kindness through His blessings bestowed upon His people. Jesus came that he might open up the blessing of God to those who believe. God is not stingy with His blessings but He gives more than what is needed.
We have walked through some barren places in our lives. We have been disappointed, frustrated, sick, felt helpless, and even tired. We have looked to others for help and found none. We have asked for assistance, and it had run out. Everyone is in need of a double portion blessing. Before we can take hold of these blessings we need to start our journey:
1.      A Journey of Faith (Bethel). Bethel is a place of hearing and believing. God wants you to be able to hear and believe that which he is telling you. God is speaking to your heart to do the impossible. The double portion is the life of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit abiding in you. Abraham heard from God in Bethel; he moved, pitched a tent, and built an altar. God is saying to you… “I am going to bless you. I am going to multiply you. I am going to bless the world through you.”  Worship God in the tent where you are.  Are you in Bethel?
2.      A Journey of Trust (Jericho).  Jericho is the place of conquering worship. It is a place of quietness and confidence in God. It’s where the man says, “I’ve heard His Word and I believe God” It was in Jericho that Joshua met Christ himself and took off his shoes (Joshua 5). It is a place where human plans die and faith in God begins to take over. It was in Jericho where the seven priests bearing seven trumpets and rams’ horns before the ark of the Lord went before the people. They marched around and around the city that was impossible to conquer in the natural. God supernaturally stepped in and the walls felled down. Are you in Jericho?
All the while, they were praising and worshiping our Lord. Be quiet, and blow your trumpet! Say nothing! God has spoken, and nothing needs to be said. Start trusting God that everything he said is true. He is not a man that he should lie, and when he speaks, he will do what he says he will do.
May God bless and ever keep you is my prayer.
