Flying thanks to Amy

I have had the pleasure of meeting a transgender person, Amy. He went from being a man to being a woman. So now he is a she and she is named Amy. I honestly had no preconceived thoughts about her before I met her. I think that is because I did not know anyone who was like that. I may have seen someone like that on television, but I am well aware that what I see there may not be representative of the entire group.

Meeting Amy and hearing her story made me realize that struggle is universal. The names, places, and faces may be different, but the innate desire to survive is something we all can relate to. That is the reason we should all be compassionate regardless if we appreciate the type of struggle.

So, thank you, Amy for making me aware that the battle and the journey is not over for any of us. If one of us is not treated fairly then we should all rally for the cause.

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable...Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals.
