Today's Word is ROAD.
Road is defined as a long, narrow stretch with a smoothed or paved surface made for traveling.
Path is defined as a narrow walk or way: a course, route, or track.
Narrow is limited in extent or space; affording little room.
Wide is having a great extent from side to side.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:13-14, "Enter through
the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to
destruction, and there are many who enter through it. For the gate is
small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who
find it." Jesus said that there are two options when it comes to our
eternal destinies. The road to destruction is broad like a six-lane
highway. It is easy to pass through the gate, and because of the
multitudes who also go that way, there is great peer-pressure to join
the crowd. On the other hand, there is a small gate that only a few pass
through. The wide road looks smoother, easier, faster, and wiser, and
the narrow road appears difficult, loney, and of poor visibility. It
requires faith to take the lesser traveled road, but most choose to
trust their sight rather than to walk by faith. Jesus said in His Word
that we 'walk by faith and not by
sight' (2 Cor 5:7). Only the road leads to life, and few find it
because few are even interested in bothering to investigate it.
When walking through this walk of faith, we may
need to look to take the path that is well traveled, beaten down, with
the footprints of others who have traveled before us. That is good for
traveling this route is the narrow course. We tend to miss many of
the crossroads (place where two roads cross). When reaching crossroads,
decisons must be made..."Which road do I choose?" When following Jesus,
some may choose that this way is too burdesome because of all the
obedience that is required. They choose to get on the wide road, where
they can be counted among the many as opposed to the few who are keeping
the faith and staying on the right road. God desires many to come to
faith (2 Pet 3:9), and He calls us as His witnesses (Acts 1:8). We on
Green Street, have adopted a song...."BE A WITNESS FOR THE LORD." That
song has become one of our most requested songs to sing. Both the
Sunday
School and the combined choirs sing it and we truly understand that WE
are the witnesses that God is calling for in these last and evil days.
...It says..."You" can be a witness for the Lord! Why don't YOU tell
somebody! It is up to you to witness to the goodness of the Lord.
There is not anyone who is reading this email, that cannot testify to
one good thing that the Lord has done for you. As Pastor Ray would
say..You have received 2 miracles today: (1) You woke up (2) And you got
up. Your Heavenly Father is the one who is responsible for giving you
those 2 miracles today. Why don't you tell somebody!!!
Traveling this Christian road can be hard, yet
we know Jesus is the Way! That is why Jesus tells us to cast our
burdens upon Him because He cares for us. We are not mules and Jesus
does not expect us to carry these loads that press us down to the ground
with worry, frustration, and the cares of this world. (I Pet 5:7)
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." That verse did
not say some, a few, a portion of them....it states ALL. The pathway
to life is hedged and hindered by many difficulties and troubles. It
must be walked with care and watchfulness, lest the way be missed and
evil befall us. The way of life is a plain and simple way; but there are
obstacles and difficulties in man's tendencies to go his own way that
hinder his walking this pathway with safety. The ROAD that leads away
from God and downward to ruin is broad, and many go therein. One narrow
gate with a
straight way leads to life; all other ways, paths, and directions lead
to death, and ruin, the narrow way is difficult; the others are easy to
follow.
There is a guarantee of honor when you follow the heavenly narrow ROAD. Great will be your reward in heaven!!
God bless you is my prayer.
