Flying with power by Brenda Smith

Another gem of wisdom from Brenda Smith.

HELLO ALL!!!

Welcome to Thursday's Word. Today's word is POWER. We are going to contrast power and authority.

Power defined is the ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something. The possession of control or command over others.

Authority defined is the right to control, command, or determine a matter. To settle things. "Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you." (Luke 10:19).  That's settled with one exception..... you must exercise this authority over your enemy. You must believe that God has the power to act and accomplish things when you command the control in the matter. You must let Satan know...he is not the boss of you.  I heard Bishop Valentine preach recently and he said you can say to the devil (1) No, Not Today! (2) Shut Up! (3) No Weapon!

Let's use this as a thought: A police officer weighing 160 pounds may effectively stand before a tanker truck and, with an uplifted hand, say, "Stop, in the name of the law." The police officer certainly couldn't stop the truck with his physical force. He is appealing to an authority greater than himself - the law - to back him up. Your authority over Satan is the same way. Your authority does not result in your strength. You cannot overcome Satan with your power but rather the Kingdom Authority from God. And you have that as a child of the King. You have His authority to overcome every attack of Satan.

Isaiah 54:17 "No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is from Me, says the LORD."  Satan attacks with 3 weapons: (1) Weapons of words; slander, lies. (2) Weapons of works; evil deeds done against us. (3) Weapons of the world; drugs, alcohol, etc.  We are attacked because we are right (righteous). Satan has declared war on the Church.

But God has told us that we will be alright because 'no weapon formed against us shall prosper.' God has got your back, so we need not worry about these enemy attacks...we are to learn to exercise the authority we have over Satan by the power that is in Jesus Christ.

Whatever you don't use - you will lose!   Exercise to strengthen and to build up your confidence in His power.

God bless you is my prayer.
