A hard lesson to learn is that not everyone wants to better his/her situation. Yes, it is sad but true. Many people are happy being right where they are even though they will complain all of the time. Improvement generally means work, and work is not fun. Also, there is a fear element in stepping out of your comfort zone to do better. There are increased expectations when we increase our lives.
Just do not take it personally when someone you are trying to help, isn't interested.
You cannot push anyone up the ladder unless he is willing to climb.

You are right about that! What a great post. The key to being a light is remembering it's not our job to determine who receives that light.
