Flying while waiting for change

All my life I have heard and I have read that time heals all wounds. That time changes things. I have waited many years for those revelations to come to pass. In some aspects, I am still waiting. Are you? Or have you learned the truth as quoted by LL Cool J?

They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.

I learned that this year. I learned that nothing will change or give the appearance of change if I keep looking at it the same way. I have to be the change agent. I have to decide that enough is enough and let stuff go. I have to be ready, willing, and able. There are some days that I accomplish this very well. There are other days when I don't. At least I know that I have to power to do it. The choice is mine. And the choice is also yours. Be empowered, make the change. Don't wait for me or someone else to do it and I won't either. They might not do it fast enough for either of us.

Adult Simba: I know what I have to do. But going back will mean facing my past. I've been running from it for so long.
[Rafiki hits Simba on the head with his stick]
Adult Simba: Ow! Jeez, what was that for?
Rafiki: It doesn't matter. It's in the past.
[laughs]
Adult Simba: Yeah, but it still hurts.
Rafiki: Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it.
[swings his stick at Simba again who ducks out of the way]
Rafiki: Ha. You See? So what are you going to do?
