Flying with the wisdom of little girls

While in Atlanta last weekend, I overheard a conversation between two little girls. I say little girls because they were tiny and I guess to be about eight years old. One said to the other, "I am not going to let a boy touch me". The other said, "Me either. I'm going to tell him that he has a lot of work to do before he can get to me. He has to finish college, get a job, and have a car". While I applaud her answer, I wonder if she will remember this when she is 13. I wonder if she will bow to peer pressure and do the things that we sometimes don't want to do, but do just because...

On the other hand, I wanted to stand up and cheer. I wanted her to say it loud so that all of the other girls and WOMEN could hear her. How many times should we have said to a man, "You have a lot of work to do before you can get to me"? I can think of a few. Of course that doesn't mean that we should not also be doing a lot of work ourselves. Think about it. Don't sell yourself short no matter how old or how young you are.
