Flying without water

Can too much technology be a bad thing? I guess too much of anything is bad for you. I did a very stupid thing. Okay, maybe stupid is a bit harsh. I relied on my technology and ended up coming home to a house without water. Every month I have my water bill sent to me electronically. It is automatic, so much so that when I did not see it for a while I did not even think about it. No, I did not check my electronic bank log to see what bills had been paid or more importantly NOT paid. I have never had a problem before.

Before is not NOW. It is now that I do not have water. It isn't that I did not have the money to pay the bill. But to the water company, it did not matter. To them, it mattered that I did not pay it. So, embarrassingly I called, paid the balance over the phone and hopefully will have running water by the time I get home.

I was inconvenienced for a night, however this inconvenience was of my own making. I did that to myself. It did make me think of the people in Berkeley county (about 15 minutes) from my office who do not have running water, ever. They do not have the luxury of forgetting to pay their water bill. They do not have the luxury of running water and I am taking it for granted. Lesson learned, at least I hope. Be thankful for the small things, people closer than you know, are doing without.
