Flying with WomenSource!

Friday, a dear sistergirlfriend Jennet Robinson Alterman (the Executive Director of the Center for Women) and I went honored to be the keynote speakers for the Women Source's first annual Founders Day Luncheon. About 70 women attended and we spoke about the keys to continued success sprinkled with facts about the status of women in Georgia. We encouraged them to keep moving forward to to find innovative ways to reach more women.

WomenSource is located in Gainesville, GA. It provides resources for all women. Not just rich white women, all women. One of the women of the agency contacted the Center for Women and asked how to start a similar organization in Gainesville. The executive director was more than happy to explain and assist in any way necessary. The board of directors visited the Center in Charleston a few months ago and received more information and advice. They have taken everything that was given to them and put it to good use. Right now they have close to 300 members! We are so proud of them.

WomenSource was formed in June 2008 as a stand-alone, non-profit organization through a partnership between the Junior League of Gainesville-Hall County, North Georgia Community Foundation and United Way of Hall County, in response to a community needs assessment commissioned by the United Way of Hall County in 2007. It aims to connect women in our community to professional sources for practical help by providing educational programs, facilitating peer support groups and counseling, and making referrals.

They conduct Brown Bag lunches (mini-seminars on various topics conducted during lunch) at no cost to the participants. These free educational programs are held on the first Thursday of each month at 11:45 a.m. at the Frances Meadows Center on Jesse Jewell Parkway. Lunch is provided. You do not need to be a member of WomenSource to attend.

Congratulations WomenSource on your one year anniversary! Many wishes for continued success!
