Flying with a serenade

A wonderful thing happened while we were running over the Cooper River bridge at 4am. Yes, at 4am. Yes, it is early and yes we all know that.

Anyway, the other morning at 4am under a beautiful crescent moon and a sky full of stars we were serenaded by a lone saxophone player. He was walking while playing one of the most amazing melodies that I had ever heard.

It was a bit odd to say the least, but also mystical, magical, and dare I say romantic? Certainly unexpected on a pre-dawn run. But a great way to start the day. Fortunately we encountered the musical stranger again on our way back to our cars.

I love unexpected pleasures. I especially love it when they are shared by others even at 4am. There was nothing to distract us from the beauty of that moment and I am thankful for that.

The best gift we can have is living in the present moment and really enjoying it for what it is; and, not being in our heads and getting sidetracked.
