Flying with amazing

The love of my life my aunt Corinne died Sunday night. She was 98 years old. I knew she culd not and would not live forever, but I wanted her to. She seemed like she had already lived forever, at least in my mind. She was always there. And always smiling. I never saw her angry and I am sure that there were times when she was plenty angry.

Life was not always kind to her. She buried her four older siblings, two husbands and her youngest son. Yet she perserved with a smile, at least in front of me.  And she was beautiful inside and out. That is what I will always remember.

I am glad that I told her that I loved her a lot. I am glad that for a long time we spoke every Saturday at 6:30pm. I am glad that I shared my love of running and she asked about it constantly. I am glad that throughout the years I bought her every flavor of Mayfield ice cream because that was her favorite brand.

But importantly, I am glad that I knew her. I am thankful that her blood runs through mine because she was amazing. Simply amazing.

An important lesson as we get older is to make time for those we love. No one is too busy for that.
