Flying with a beautiful mistake

Jose Murillo
Yesterday I sent a friend a happy birthday message. It said something like "Happy birthday my beautiful friend. We are overdue for a run, yoga, a drink or all of these". She promptly replied back texting "Lol. Anytime. But it's not my birthday. Not until April. Have a wonderful day". How did I make that beautiful mistake? I replied that I should not be reading Facebook posts early in the morning.

My beautiful mistake made her smile. It made me smile and of course I went back and re-read her Facebook status. She wrote:Good morning! So much to be thankful for! 52 years on this earth and Thankful for everyone and everything in my life. And I thought she meant that today was her birthday. It was an honest mistake. It was a beautiful mistake. And I am glad I made it. It caused me to reach out to her because it had indeed been a minute. It made me think outside of myself even as I should have been up and getting ready to head to Savannah for work. It made me chuckle at her response.

Not all mistakes are costly. Some are simply beautiful. Perhaps I should make beautiful mistakes more often, but on purpose. But then they wouldn't be mistakes. They would just be kindly gestures. And kindly gestures are wonderful. So maybe today was a sign that I need to do more of both. You know, some on purpose and some not. I should just act more often with a kind loving grateful heart. Beautiful mistake or kindly gesture, the sentiment is the same.
