Flying with promises

This is the first three week school break that I did not do any school work. I did not look at work emails. I did not work on syllabi. I did not complete the online portion for my four classes. I just did not. I decided to use this time for me. some might think it was selfish, but I don't really care. And I dare someone to say that to my face.

One of the things I did was connect with a couple women I had not seen in ages. But prior to that I was trying to figure out which shoes to wear and I posed that question to my Facebook friends. I needed to know which pair of convers to wear, the red or the blingy blue. (This was the beginning of the historic rain although I did not realize it then).

The overwhelming majority of people told me to wear the red ones. And I will admit to anyone who will listen, that I do love to rock a red shoe for that pop of color. Plus as someone mentioned, rain was a-coming and the red ones would hold up better unless I opted for rainboots. I would have opted for rainboots if I had rainboots. (So if you are thinking about what to get me for Christmas...I wear size 7 1/2 and like every color except green).

Anyway, the birthday girl (one of the people I was meeting for lunch) told me to wear the sparkly blue pair. And since it was her birthday I felt that I had to comply. So I did. And all was well with the world even while the rain started and of course we were still unaware of significance of that rain.

It was best that we did not know. We might have decided not to meet for lunch. We might have just stayed home promising each other that we would meet up one day. I like promises kept rather than promises broken.
