Flying without excuses, a re-post sort of

Colton Brown
I cannot tell you how many times I hear people say they cannot do something because they are too old. While I do believe there is a such thing as 'age appropriateness' it does not apply to running a marathon, moving forward in life, starting over, changing gears, or having funky hair. So stop using excuses. Get up, go out, and get it done.

I really do not understand why people make so many excuses. You can usually get the thing done in the time you take to complain about it. I am speaking from experience on that one. Recently at work I was tasked with calling 12 students to check on their progress. It was an effort to keep students enrolled and progressing towards their degrees. The rationale was that if they knew we cared and they had a point of contact to direct their issues the drop out rate would decline.

Yes, that makes good sense. But I hate calling people. I really do not like talking on the phone. So I moaned and groaned for over an hour. Then I finally made the calls. It took me less than 10 minutes to do it including sending out emails to those I did not reach by phone.
