Flying while hacked

The other day I replied to an email from a dear friend. The only problem is my friend did not send the email. So when I replied, I allowed the hackers access to my entire email address book. And of course messages went out to everyone listed in it.

The lesson learned for me is to not automatically open strange looking emails from people who I do not normally receive emails from. I suggest that you do the same.

I changed my passwords and tried to warn everyone. The interesting thing is that I received replies from people I had lost contact with. People I had not spoken to in years. That gave me the opportunity to continue conversations with them. Some I did, others I did not. Of course I told all of them not to open the email even those I decided not to chat with. It is a matter of respect. It isn't that I am angry at any of the people I chose not to re-friend. It is just that some things and people are better left exactly the way they are, in the past.

You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any f your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space.
